►Steve Gainer, ASC, ASK is an Emmy Award-winning cinematographer, director, and producer, and a member of the American Society of Cinematographers — where he also serves as Senior Curator of the ASC Museum.
Working as director of photography since 1994, Steve has shot dozens of feature films, commercials, and music videos. His credits include Donnie Darko, Mysterious Skin (dir. Gregg Araki), Bully and Wassup Rockers (dir. Larry Clark), A Dirty Shame (dir. John Waters), and Punisher: War Zone (dir. Lexi Alexander).
In television, he directed episodes of MTV's Awkward, winning a Daytime Emmy in 2014 and earning a further Daytime Emmy nomination in 2018. He is also a member of the Directors Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
